This.

So simple.  So beautiful.  So stunning.

Life goals to be certain.

And so it goes

2015 is off to a good start.  As I sit here this evening I can still taste the onions from lunch.  An obscene amount of peppermints for the day, and still it lingers.  Remind me next time I make these that a few slices can go a long way.

Even though I did not claim it as one of my intentions for the year, I am trying to eat less processed and more whole foods with every meal.  Did you catch it there in the previous sentence?  Trying.  TRY is my word for 2015 and boy am I honoring it big time.  Even if it's late at night and I boil another pot of frozen ravioli I will throw in twice as much broccoli.  I've been eating a lot of broccoli.

Yoga is happening.  Not daily, but frequently and consistently and that's what counts.  I am sore every time.  Each time I meet myself at my mat and set an intention for my practice, more often than not it's TRY.  Try to let go, try to soften, try something new.  Try to get rid of your preconceptions of yourself.  I feel like I grow a little bit more each time and it makes me excited for the next time I can come back to my mat.

I wasn't sure about my word when I chose it, but it's working so well for me that I want to pat myself on the back for being so in tune with my conscience.

Try

Welcome 2015.

A fresh start, a new beginning.  I love the idea of getting to hit the reset button and setting goals and aspirations for the new year.

I have chosen a word for the year and that word is TRY.

Try something new.

Try to let go.

Try to create.

Here's to a new year, a new chance to create more, and discover myself more deeply.  Here's to wishing that your dreams carry you far friends!

go outside.

Even though the blogosphere has seen spring for some time now, you never know when it's here to stay in Colorado.  I'm still denying the snowstorm on Monday ever happened and instead looking forward to more rafting, hiking, and patio time with the husband and pups.

spring.

Spring is finally here in Colorado and I just can't get enough.  The blossoms are everywhere and the bright green grass is inspiring.  The boys really enjoy running free in the field behind our home and we take advantage everyday we can't be in the mountains or down by the river.

Spring, it's good to have you back.

sunday.

A day for slowing down and preparing for the week ahead.
This is my way of documenting these sweet, wonderful days.

I'm a day late with this post.  With the holiday today I am off of work and so I'm treating this Monday as my Sunday for the week.

frozen.

The coldness in Colorado has been constant the past couple days, although the sunshine makes such a difference.  I guess life a mile above sea level definitely has it's perks.  The small lake by our home is starting to thaw out, but knowing Colorado, it'll be frozen solid again next week.

For now, I'll be hunkering down with the pups, drinking warm coffee and tea, and enjoying the early nights with my husband.  Soon the days will be getting longer and we'll not want to be inside.  Until then we plan to make the best of it.

slowing down.

pictures from Southwestern Colorado

I've always been that person who sets a handful of New Year's resolutions every January 1st.  Generally, I'm pretty good about sticking to them for months but inevitably fall right back into my comfort zone and stop.  This year I thought I'd take a different approach and set an intention instead.  So what is my intention this year?

Slow down.

I don't mean stop trying exciting things or stop moving forward, but rather to slow down in each moment and fully appreciate them.  Whatever I'm doing I intend to focus my energy 100% and become more aware of myself in that moment.  I want to live a kick ass life, but how can you accomplish that when you're never fully engaged?  My intention is that by taking the time and energy to be fully present in each moment I'll gain more knowledge and understanding of myself, my abilities, and be able to push past those comfort zone boundaries.

Here's to a great year!
